Let Us Help
Evidence based Physio treatment techniques are used, including:
Acupuncture is part of Traditional Chinese Medicine, whereas dry needling is a western medicine technique, which needs to have a medical diagnosis. Dry Needling works by changing the way your body senses pain (neurological effects), and by helping the body heal muscle spasm associated with trigger points (myofascial effects). There are additional electrical and chemical changes associated with dry needling therapy which assist in the healing process. It is important to see the needles as just one part of your overall rehabilitative treatment. Dry needling is not a miracle cure – it is a normal part of physiotherapy. It is vital that you do the exercises and follow the advice your therapist gives you in conjunction with the needling for optimal recovery.
It successfully treats a variety of orthopedic, neuromuscular, neurological and other medical conditions. By targeting different receptors within the somatosensory system, kinesio tape alleviates pain and facilitates lymphatic drainage by microscopically lifting the skin. This lifting affect forms convolutions in the skin thus increasing interstitial space and allowing for a decrease in inflammation of the affected areas. Kinesio taping is specifically applied to the patient based on their needs after evaluation. It can be applied in hundreds of ways and has the ability to re-educate the neuromuscular system, reduce pain and inflammation, optimize performance, prevent injury and promote good circulation and healing, and assist in returning the body to normal function.
It stretches and moves without restriction. But when we experience physical trauma, scarring or inflammation, fascia loses its pliability. It becomes tight, restricted and a source of tension to the rest of the body. Trauma such as a fall, whiplash, surgery, habitual poor posture and repetitive stress have a cumulative effect. Trauma causes changes in the fascial system influencing comfort and the proper functioning of our bodies. The fascia can exert excessive pressure producing pain and restriction in range of motion. These changes can affect our flexibility and stability and is a determining factor in our ability to withstand stress or strain.
*After assessing your condition we will chose the best treatment technique to use be it; Manual joint and soft tissue techniques, Neural mobilization, Ultrasound, Interferential, TENS, Dry needling, Strapping/Kinesio taping, Nebulization, Chest Physio (percussions/vibrations/breathing exercises) or a combination.
